Welcome to our first KWAA official newsletter. You are getting this because you have at some point shared your email details or bought a ticket online last year.

As you know we are making progress with the club adding the option to share information and to buy tickets online. Some of you may have helped us get over our glitches.

If you feel your friends and fellow anglers would like to get a monthly update, please let them know. Most importantly If you no longer wish to get the news you can unsubscribe at the bottom.

Key Membership Information

The new River season starts on the 1st of Feb. Some of you hard anglers will be out early, however we bet many more will be waiting for the warmer weather.

The biggest news is that the non-Kendal higher ticket price has been cancelled and now everyone can join at the same rate of £100 for adult membership. Junior tickets also go up to those in higher education. Both these moves show our commitment to being a club for everyone.

  1. Prices are the same as 2024
  2. Non-Kendal tickets have been stopped. All prices the same for everyone, from anywhere
  3. Junior tickets, now extend to people under 21 in full-time education
  4. The Kent Season ticket also includes 12 months fishing on Killington (Normally £40).
  5. We are moving to online ticketing and information and need your emails and mobile contacts
  6. Season, Week and Day Tickets can be purchased in 3 ways:
  • Online via the KWAA website: kentangling.co.uk
  • Through Carlson’s Tackle Shop in Kendal
  • Via post, sending a cheque, and stamped envelope, to the Secretary (details on the website)

The New River Season Ticket is available now from our website kentangling.co.uk or Carlson’s Tackle Shop in Kendal. Over 8 miles of the beautiful River Kent, plus, your season ticket also includes 12 months membership at Killington Reservoir!

Killington Carlson’s Winter Silverfish Series

Killington Reservoir saw 3rd Outing in the Carlson’s Winter Silverfish series of open fishing Matches – Sunday 19th January 2025. Recent weeks have seen temperatures as low as -12 degrees C and heavy snow around here, barely a week ago Killington was about to ice over, then fortunately a mild spell put an end to it, a mild few days and practice sessions gave a little hope of reasonable weather, plenty of bites, and most importantly weights.

A great turnout of 18 Anglers fishing, payout was 1st, 2nd, 3rd plus 3 x Section winners. The day was Baltic, between watching fingers change to all colours and barely being able to function in the extreme temps

At the all out (or perhaps….”thaw out” would have been a better shout after 5 hrs, of what can be best described as a serious sub-zero endurance event). 17 Anglers survived, 1 must have left early, perhaps because of his frozen tears!? Cumbrian weather can do that to even the hardiest of souls! Although had Barry McLeod been able to make it, I’m sure he would have been in his shorts and sandals!

A very tough day it turned out to be, with freezing fog and minus temperatures, bites were hard to come by and fish even less so. Most Anglers scratching for the odd fish or two, to try and save the blank or perhaps sneak a section prize.

Stand out Anglers on the day being Chris Steven’s Peg 17 (by the last gate) produced a great bag of Roach and quality Perch for 1st spot . Graham Kennerley Peg 4 (by 2nd gate) with plenty of Roach and Perch securing 2nd. Mike Harrison Peg 13 (in no man’s land) taking an excellent 3rd medal and saving local Angling dignity! Congratulations to all the framers, including section winners Neil Yates, Tony Gundon and Sam Pendlebury.

Great to see some new faces and some old cold ones too! Many travelling up from the Northwest to join us.

Thanks to all who showed up and supported this match in such, lets say.. wintery conditions. A special thanks to Brian Gent for doing all the admin, all the lads who helped with draw/weigh in too, along with KWAA, Ian Walker and Ian Carradus for their help on the day and allowing the match to be booked.
