It is great to know our river is fishing very well this summer, with some fantastic salmon and sea trout being caught and most importantly released. We are all also aware of the need to protect our migratory salmon and sea trout stocks. As a club we advocate catch & release and barbless hook fishing, however, leave it to the individual angler to make their decision.

Rather than a long newsletter on the doo’s and don’ts, please see a link here to a great online film from Fisheries Scotland about the reasons clubs and anglers should consider catch & release and barbless hook fishing and the best practices in handling fish to reduce stress and damage to fish.

As club members we are just the custodians of our river, and we need to do everything possible to protect and hopefully improve fish stocks for the future.
