The Kent (Westmorland) Angling Association was founded by working men in 1848 and is still administered the same way. Through good management and dexterity, the Association controls continuity of both banks of the River Kent for some 8 miles, most of which we own, and the rest is Leased. We also hold the Fishing Rights on three other Fisheries. The Association is open to Local and Visiting Members alike and there is also a Junior Membership. The Association offers very reasonable priced Day and Weekly Permits to non-members to fish its waters.

  • We are an Angling Association run by the Members for the benefit of the Members
  • The Association is non profit making organisation
  • We promote conservation on ALL our waters
  • Our fishing comprises 8 miles of Riverbank Fishing on the not so well known (yet!) River Kent in Cumbria formerly Westmorland, plus two still water fisheries namely Killington Lake Reservoir and Gurnal Dubs.
  • The Association has fishing to the north and south of Kendal in the County of Cumbria "The Gateway to the Lakes" with all its natural beauty.
  • Kendal is an ideal base for those wishing to tour the Lakes but is also ideal for visiting the nearby Yorkshire Dales.
  • Details of accommodation in the way of bed and breakfast, etc. can be sought from the Kendal Tourist information Centre on 01539 725758
  • Canoes are banned from the Association Waters
  • All Association Waters are patrolled by bailiffs to protect its Members, Fisheries and Ownership
